Flashed Glass is the material used for craft works like Edo Kiriko or Satsuma Kiriko.
Flashed Glass is made by layering color glass over transparent glass.
This working process is done in a very delicate and difficult way to make excellent
glass layers while the glass is heated. The heated glass takes time to be cooled down. It is pretty difficult to make a good combination of each color glass layer.
The hand-made flashed glass by the glass master is not suitable for mass production.
We, Sougu, carve various patterns carefully and elaborately on the glass cups one by one by our own unique sandblast skills. It feels soft to the touch. No chemical is used for the safety.
Notice: The flashed glass we choose from two Japan’s glass manufactures is used to
draft delicate and complicated designs.(It’s natural for a few subtle bubbles to remain in the layers in the process of glass layering.)
