The feature of this product:

Product Feature (production technique) ‘Characteristics of Arita-yaki’s color’  Arita-yaki is well-known as a place of origin of white porcelain which is characterized by a little bluish transparent white skin.  As you may know, the pottery may change its color delicately by a temperature of the flame. Especially the Hungama firing (kiln firing), when putting a pottery in a kiln, a position where you put, the temperature on that day and wind direction may even change its condition dramatically.  Each different colors are also a feature of Arita-yaki that has been kept loved for a long time.

‘Iroe Takara-Tsuki (Color painting treasure)’ series

Collection of treasure (Takara-tsukushi) that has been popular as a traditional Japanese pattern became a form of feeling to wish happy and good luck, it has been decorating kimono and objects. It’s derived from Chinese ideology ‘Happo’. It’s said that it started in Muromachi Period in Japan. Takara-tsukushi in Japan, the representative patterns are ‘one’s wishes, gem, hoyaku, magic mallet, kakuremino(crypt), clove, hanawachigai, gold box’ etc. One point or several points are combined used in these patterns. ‘Takara-tsukushimon series’ is named as Takara-tsukushi is available on the pottery of Iwao Taizangama, which is also decorating on the ceramics of Koimari and Nabeshima. Fourteenth Iwao Taizangama

‘The tradition of Arita and harmony with the present age’

It’s been 380 years or so since Iwao Taizangama inherited Odarugama which is one of old kama of Arita and well-known for a place of origin of white porcelain. It’s the fourteenth generation since the founder of Yarobe. The basic principle is ‘offer good thing in every age’, they are trying to fuse two completely different components which are traditional and new, and trying their best to quest the ceramic ware for making ceramics with its unique and dignity. Not only following an example of old ceramics or brand name products but also understanding its true meaning by adding a new method as much as possible to try to create a brand name in the present age, that is the heart of ‘meaning of brand name’.

The works of Taizangama have been created as above with various techniques which are from the traditional ones to present ones. Most especially the artworks of the gilt decoration that brings up the color, which gold foil and gold paint are burned on porcelain reach the summit of gaudy. On the other hand, originally a large type of porcelain was used to be Arita’s favorite technique but it temporary came to an end. The Taizangama revived it when having some difficulty in postwar and its situation has been continued up to today. There is a full of variety such as a big pot, dish, garden lantern, table and so forth. Their works have been supplied to the new Royal Palace building that was built in 1968.
